Musha Shugyo

Chapter of the Scorpion
Where the heroes find themselves in a pinch.

The city of lies. The heroes discover this after being swindled out of five bu by some local guards. They head straight to the Blue Blossom Avenue where they have to meet Shosuro Kim.

Fun story about Kim. He’s dead.

Yamaha his wife informs the party of his recent murder and also mentions that his study was burnt to the ground too. The Kami never make things easy do they?

They consult the fire embers and he reveals that the eta secretary, Haruko was the one who set the fire.

Takeshi leads the group to his home where they kick in the door and subtlety demand to see him. He has fled but they discover that the foxes paid him to do the dirty deed. Upon leaving, the heroes are ambushed!

The Little Brothers are quickly dispatched of. ToshI, the sole survivor, informs them that their fire station is in this district. Kento, their boss, lives in the Merchants District.

Gaijin Revelations
Eisen? How? Errrr.....

Takeshi and Satoru push through the imaginary wall/door and the party finds themselves near the Kaiu Wall. The image of Takeshi’s father appears and, when faced with discipline and disbelief, vanishes again thus breaking the illusion.

Taro appears looking horrendously emaciated. He condones Genma for his actions against the Phoenix and a long fight ensues. Taro borrows power from the Baku-no Oni and upon taking heavy damage, leeches life from the sleeping shugenja until they are just shrivelled husks.

Using fire and tons of void, the heroes emerge victorious. Lucky Ishikawa induces the remaining Phoenix shugenja into a coma so that the drug can wear off without horrendous consequences. Taro’s room is looted and the lab plans and scrolls are pocketed.

No kata are found. Crane, Scorpion or Phoenix libraries, but nobody seems to have any. What are the odds eh?

A few days go by and the party get their travel documents and they leave town for Shirakawa.

The heroes make camp outside the small village of Shirakawa. Genma goes into town alone and offers his services to Shiba Ren. His sincerity wins them over and he sits down to dinner with them.

After a week or so of bonding, the village invite him to stay and offer him a home and widow. Refusal to stay in town permanently results in banishment. Tight bunch.

The villagers are told that whenever foreigners visit, everyone locks themselves indoors and do not leave. They are then rewarded for “good behaviour”.

The party come up with a plan of action. The ambush is set on the road whilst the beach is spied upon using Ryuki’s magic.

Twenty or so riders, with five Utaku turn up. Large sacks of opium are carried between them. A palanquin containing the target along with five footmen and a Gaijin woman also arrive and wait.

Later a large ship arrives.

Completely black and foreign, it slowly enters the bay and smaller boats make their way inwards. After landing, it is clear that three men seem to be in charge. All Gaijin with armoured bits about them. The meeting begins once Seppun Yoai and Utaku Kokuten greet them.

The panzerfaust wielders are identified as Rudigen, Manfred and Klaus. Once in place, the Gaijin female, a porte sorceress named Sophie, rips a portal open in the very fabric of the universe and pulls through Kaw-na, otherwise known as Faceless.

Faceless is perfectly nondescript. So much so in fact, his face is impossible to place or remember. The trade begins and he is given maps of Mantis trade routes and Opium in exchange for the very large, obscene amounts of gold that are being dragged through the portal by Sophie.

The Seppun have crossed a line.

They must be punished.

Kami Chameleon
Chapter One: Book of the Phoenix

The town of Okushiro in the Phoenix lands. The party pretend to be messangers to the Kaikawa. They bribe the mean bureaucrat and go in. Genma has increasingly bad headaches.

Okusshira is a port town. They hit it next. They opt to meet Kaikawa avoiding the temptation of the gambling houses as they go.

While Ryuki and Shun chat inside the trading house, Genma walks off after seeing Isawa Daichi wander the street. He is clearly mad. As is Daichi, who enters the shugenja Dojo via the guarded door..

Cut scene to Kage, a local bandit who is proving troublesome to Kaikawa’s business as well as that of a few others. He has a gang of about 12-15 men. The deal is simple. Get rid of him, get papers into the next town.

Genma meanwhile follows Daichi through the gate and discovers that the Phoenix Shugenja have all become addicted to a drug of sorts. A drug recommended by Sensei Taro.

Inside the school feels wrong and unsettingly quiet. The Ishiken have gone mad.

Shun and Ryuki meet Satoru at the Purple Turtle inn, outside of which a 3 man crucifixion takes place hosted by Shiba Hashi. Jurubai, a local man who is well loved, is one of the victims.

Word is there is a serial killer on the loose, strangling people. Unperturbed, Satoru grabs food to take to Takeshi who is awaiting Genma’s return.

Children knock food out of Satoru’s hand. He shoots the leader between the toes and pins his shoe to the ground. While the boys scatter, Satoru grabs the trapped child and takes him to a hungry Takeshi.

Takeshi sees a man light a flame of many colours. It seems odd. The man tells him that the kami are angry. He kindly explains,

“The kami have forsaken this town. They bel-” And then he dies. Suffocated.

As fate would have it, a gaurd patrol walks by. They attempt to arrest Takeshi for the man’s murder.

The Tower of the Tamori
Part Ichi

Sakura Naio is actually Isawa Naio. Fun fact, turns out she’s there to check out the “Resistance” for the Phoenix clan, who have been somewhat hampered by the Unicorn and would like to fund the resistance to ensure their attention is elsewhere.

Bayushi Ko. He heard there was a rebellion he decided he wanted to tag along to. The Dragon are uncertain about him so they ask Genma to mindread him. The Scorpion seems honest in his responses.

Miya Cho has made contact. The news reverberates amongst the heroes.

He has been kidnapped by the Unicorn.

Never a dull moment.

He is being held in a Tamori Tower and awaiting an escort sent by Moto Fume to return him to the false capital for sentencing. They gather some intel and set off.

They arrive to the tower and spot, hanging out of the second floor of the stables, a number of cages with people in side them. One of them is Miya Cho, confirmed by an ingenious bit of casting by Ryuki, who sends a magical homing pigeon to Cho. Once it hit the man in the cage, they knew it was actually him.

After careful hours of planning, the heroes came to no conclusive plan.

The saga continues.

Oh wait! They intercept the ronin leaving the place and get some info regarding how to walk right into the place pretending to be ronin looking for work. Sweet.

Meanwhile the other three decide to featherfall to the tavern rooftop for fiery vantage.

Quote file:

Gawain upon casting Featherfall on multiple targets: I cast on multiple targets

Green: You can’t do that. It’s only one target at a time

Gawain : Crap, I think I cast the wrong spell then.

Adam: This is bad news for whoever he cast the spell on.
